"Pick of the week,a psychedelic-pop gem with much to recommend!"- Valis, Trip Inside This House

"If you close your eyes you can definitely spot A Wizard and A True Star dancing to Paul McCartney fronting The Monkees, drunk on a magical potion consisting of cider and early electronic juices." -Clam In A Jam

"......not a filler track to be found. Highly Recommended to all those with a healthy love of nostalgia and sunny melodies." -Powerpooaholic

"this merry-go-round kaleidoscope of bygone melodies is an affectionate, warm-hearted treat for the ears." -Monolith Cocktail

"....there are moments here where the diversity on show captures the easy cross-genre pollination that the younger Todd Rundgren used to so effortlessly master. Soooooo good." -The Active
    Listener

" The duo have great ears for melodies and harmonies and are not afraid to experiment with them.....an incredible album." -Everything Flows Blog

"Ever Evolving Lounge takes you on the most pleasant of psychedelic trips back to the glory days of 60’s pop music." -Ravechild

"Dr Cosmo’s Tape Lab sound like they have stepped out of a Tardis from the sixties but, given that they clearly know their way around a pop song, we should be grateful for that. 4/5" -Bluesbunny

about

Dr Cosmo’s Tape Lab: debut album release
‘EVER EVOLVING LOUNGE’
Release Date 30th June 2014
www.facebook.com/drcosmostapelab
www.drcosmostapelab.bandcamp.com

If it wasn’t for Todd Rundgren trying to dance like a granddad to bad techno music, none of this would have happened.
For Joe Kane (The Owsley Sunshine, Them Beatles) and Stu Kidd (BMX Bandits, Wellgreen), that fateful night turned from despondency to dreaming as they left the ABC early to drown sorrow in cider and concoct a musical utopia that Todd Rundgren should really be dancing to.

Furthering the conversation and drawing inspiration from McCartney II, The Monkees, The Beach Boys and Brian Eno to name but a few from an inexhaustible list, the duo set about writing and recording under the moniker Dr Cosmo’s Tape Lab.

Writing and recording under no pressure from the confines of Joe’s bedroom, Dr Cosmo’s Tape Lab began to break down the barriers of the classic pop format and produce something wholly original, yet remaining faithful to the classic sound of the pop hits of yesteryear.

After an “album title naming competition” was started on the fan site and sifting through about 200 submissions, the title of EVER EVOLVING LOUNGE was decided upon.

Released on the 30th June 2014, Ever Evolving Lounge contains ten short blasts of melodic, energetic and distinct pop songs all ready to drill a hole through your senses and remain in your brain until you yourself, can’t stop dancing like Todd Rundgren.

Dr Cosmo's Tape Lab Glasgow, UK

Disappointing Todd Rundgren gigs, Tascam 4 track cassette recorders, animal oddities, The Monkees, cider, children's tv shows from the 80's and sci-fi movies (good and bad) are all ingredients to the sounds of Dr Cosmo's Tape Lab.

Track Name: A Sting In The Tale
Hexagonal sweetness is here in the hive
Just-a one sweet drop cab make me feel so alive
Your loving colours in yellow and black
But there's a sting in the tale when you're on the attack

Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey
Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey, ye
Queen bee, suckin' on the honey
She's buzzing round my brain and I'm feeling kinda funny

You're sending signals all covered in smoke
and the message is clear but now I'm starting choke
It's hot and sticky, honey comb your hair.
But if you brush in a rush you can go anywhere

Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey
Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey, ye
Queen bee, suckin' on the honey
She's buzzing round my brain and I'm feeling kinda funny

We're getting funky producing hot wax,
we use a long proboscis just to sing on the tracks
Pollen collected is sure food for thought
so keep on giving up the honey give if all that you got

Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey
Queen Bee, suckin' on the honey, ye
Queen bee, suckin' on the honey
She's buzzing round my brain and I'm feeling kinda funny
Track Name: Adopt A Rabbit
Hop off and leave this war in peace
I'm running scared on the cottontail trail
Hounds ok my back and they will not cease,
now I've been snared on the cottontail trail

Adopt a rabbit....

Happy trails, happy trails
To the one you love the best
Happy trails, happy trails
To the one who travels west

It's hide and seek from the cunning fox,
not so fantastic on the cottontail trail.
Don't want to end up in a wooden box,
it's all so drastic on the cottontail trail

Adopt a rabbit.....

Happy trails, happy trails
To the one you love the best
Happy trails, happy trails
To the one who travels west

Every second, every day
We've got to keep our ears to the big sky
We're digging holes now come what may
Life in a maze, we dig it! Dig it?

Adopt a rabbit....

Happy trails, happy trails
To the one you love the best
Happy trails, happy trails
To the one who travels west
Track Name: Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?
Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?
He asked me then he turned away
An answer for another day
Tryin hard to crack the code
Why did the chicken cross the road?

What is on the other side?
A place for him to run and hide
A joke that never gets too old
Why did the chicken cross the road?

THESE FEATHERS LIE
EVEN IF THERE ARE NO CURRENTS TO GLIDE
HE DON’T FLY FLY FLY
WINGS ARE NO USE I BET HE WISHES THAT HE WAS A GOOSE
COS THEY FLY FLY FLY
COAST TO COAST TO COAST

The dinosaur he tried back then
Cos chickens didn’t exist my friend
Prehistorically so bold
When chickens didn’t cross the road

The duck he later tried it too
Because he had something to prove
He was no chicken so we’re told
And so he tried to cross the road

IF THERES NO GREEN MAN
YOU HAVE TO CROSS IT ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN
EVEN FLY FLY FLY
PLEASE LOOK BOTH WAYS OR ELSE YOU’LL COME A CROPPER ONE OF THESE DAYS
AND HIT THE SKY SKY SKY
AND THEN ITS ONE WAY UP OR DOWN

Chicken time to say goodbye
When you gonna lean to fly

SO IF YOUR CHICKEN IS LONELY
JUST LET IT OUT THE BAG
SQUASHED AGAINST THE PLASTIC IT REALLY IS A DRAG
SO BRING YOUR CHICKEN HOME FOR A CUP OF TEA ....YEAH!
BRING YOUR CHICKEN HOME FOR A CUP OF ROSY LEE
Track Name: Animal Man
I'm an animal man x 2
With my animal hands
Doin the best that I can
Evolution passed me by
Living in the trees
I'm an animal man x 2
I'm an animal man

You're an animal too
Take my animal hand
And let's escape from the zoo
Tired of people watching us
And everything we do
I'm an animal man x 2

Shlalalalalalalala lala x2

Be my animal girl
In my animal world
Make our animal love
In the branches above
Shaking up the jungle
Rockin two by two
I'm an animal man x 2

Shalalalalalalala lala x 2
Verse 1
Shalalalalalalala lala x 4

(Monkey/ape style noises)
Track Name: The Secret Of The Tibetan Grapefruit Is...?
Spend A Little Time
And the minute you do you will find you have no restrictions.
Steal all the time in the world.

Spare A Little Thought
And the minute you think that you may have an answer.
Tell everyone in the world

Send A Letter To
And the minute you write someones name in the clouds up above.
Seal it with a stamp to the world.

Say A Little Thanks
And the minute before you speak gratitude to your brothers and your sisters.
Whisper a prayer to the world.

It’s all across the ocean
It’s all around the world
Track Name: Trading Time
I heard the news today
Heavens in disarray
We cast the hours behind
Trading Time

I see it twice and then
The hands hit twelve again
What once was in it's prime
Now Trading Time

The lonely universe
Infinity reversed
This cosmos, yours and mine
Trading Time

The circle spins again
Towards ?
Nobody draws the line
Trading Time
Track Name: Broken Star
I was torn apart because she wouldn't let me go
She didn't mean to sabotage my heart and leave me low
She didn't even think of me when love was on the line
Cos her mother didn't tell about the fakers and the fools and the dogs and the wolves so she learned in her own sweet time

I was flown away to somewhere far away from her
With no time to wait around, she took the job on big sur
Mending all the bad notes in a minor melody
So I tore up all her birthday cards and I wrote it in a letter that I think was for the better
but we'll just have to wait and see

And can't you see she's a Broken Star, too bright to leave behind
The pretty part of the picture
The picture in your mind
So make yourself a promise, please,
To give yourself a chance
On the highways and the bi-ways of romance

Meet me down by the garden shed
Marmalade and a loaf of bread
Spread it on think with a rusty nail
And send me out via US mail
Mop me out, hang out to dry
Stick your finger in my pie
Toss my salad, tenderise my stew
Track Name: (Return To) Nineteen Canteen
Monday, you run for the hills again
You run like the wind far and wide
Where no one can hide from love

Tuesday, you yearn for the time
A time when your heart was so free
A place you can be yourself

Back in the world
Where no one can dim the light
Gone is the girl
Who dances in dreams to the beat after midnight

Wednesday, a walk in the dark
Trying to fight your way back
Get out of the black and blue

Thursday, a whispering wish
A prayer often blown on the breeze
That answers your pleas again

Back in the day
The future was ours to find
Never could stay
Rode out of town with your eyes in the moonlight

The weekend is over too quickly these days,
The rat-race is run from the cot to the grave and it's true
It's happening to you
I comes round again but it comes with a price
And your only friend is a roll of the dice

No turning back cos you may not like the view
Chance came and went but chances now number few

It's time to take a stand
Make a change cos only I can
We've got to get it right
Oh yeah, alright
Make a pact with Lady Luck
Have a go if you got the pluck
We've got to get it right
Oh yeah, alright

The sun came up, with golden rays
And chased the blues oh so faraway
How long will it last?
Well no one can say
But for now everything is OK

We may be right, we can't be wrong
For all we know it's been here all along
It's maybe that we, we just couldn't see
But for now everything is OK

I know that you,
were meant to be no other
& no one else but you
Since you returned
To me in nineteen canteen,
I'll stick to you like glue

Where have you been?
I lost you to tomorrow
When yesterday was mine
Since you returned
To me in nineteen canteen
We'll watch the stars align
Track Name: Alphabetter Boogie
I know it's tough but there's enough
To fill your mind so just forget her
To the letter I can right your wrongs and sing so alphabetter

And if your head feels so bad
We can try to fix the problems that you had
Cos we all need a friend to feel alright

Don't need a silver lining in the
Cloud so high above you
If it burst it's not the worst
This umbrella has been made for two

And if your head feels so bad
We can try to fix the problems that you had
Cos we all need a friend to feel alright

Paint a picture of a life and see the person that you want to be
If you frame it we can name it and we'll hang it in the gallery

And if your head feels so bad
We can try to fix the problems that you had
Cos we all need a friend to feel alright
